Acre Wood Community Care!
Acre Wood started with a dream to make a positive difference in the earliest years of children's lives. While we at AW value the importance of the opportunities offered within the classroom, we also recognize that the root of being able to thrive in these learning moments, is having comfortable clothing to do this in. This is why we want to be apart of making sure children have access to warm and well-fitting clothing! The team at AW is a supportive and judgement-free resource for parents in the Sidney community to reach out to if they need assistance with clothing for their children. Please send us an email with the subject "community care" if you have questions regarding donations or need clothing for your child(red)!

FAQ
Will I get updates about my child's day?
Absolutely! Using HiMama our educators send daily updates of our activities and learning moments, a few photos of the fun, and bathrooms/meals time reports. We believe in the importance of 'it takes a village' and teamwork, so this provides the opportunity for you to play an active role in your child's day while they are at daycare!
Does my child have to be potty trained to attend Acre Wood?
Nope! Our loving and supportive team of educators are here to reach the exciting potty training milestone with you! We know that every child develops at their own unique pace - and that is ok!
What does nap time look like at Acre Wood?
Our infant and toddler programs have a separate nap room where each child has their own crib or cot. Our Preschool Program has a quiet period / nap time in our main area on folding mats.
What if my child no longer naps?
Thats ok! We provide your child with some quiet materials to use on their mat or at a table for the duration of nap. These materials could be a puzzle, book, or a quiet toy of their choice.

Will my child have time outside?
A million times yes! Acre Wood values the importance of outdoor play and the positive impact of spending time in nature. We spend time outside for 1.5 to 2.5 hours every day! We are lucky to be surrounded by so much natural beauty in Sidney; we get the opportunity to enjoy various parks in the area such as Swiftsure Park, Tulista Park, Iroquois Park, and Melissa Park! We also go on walks by the ocean to watch marine life, and through gardens and ponds throughout our lovely little town!
Will my child go on field trips?
Yes! We love going on field trips! We have a monthly library field trip for every classroom year round, we have a weekly splash pad field trip for every classroom during the warm months, and we have a monthly field trip to visit our senior pals at the Shoal Centre for the Old Toddler & Preschool classrooms year round!

Other field trips we have done throughout the year include the aquarium, the Sidney Museum, Thrift Foods 'behind the scenes', and Little Kickers Soccer at a local Park!
